The low cost of living allows teachers to live well by local standards even with the modest wages offered.
What Can You Expect in Ecuador?
- Salary: Up to $400 per month for 25 teaching hours per week. You will be paid on a weekly basis and our partners will help you open a bank account. Earnings may be improved by one-to-one private lessons which are widely available for Spanish speaking tutors.
- Health insurance is optional and can be purchased for $13 per month.
- Locations: Loja, Machala or Manta
- Placement lengths: 12 months
- Departure Dates: February and September in Loja. April and September in Machala. April and September in Manta.
- Accommodation: Our partners offer the opportunity of a private room in a rented house in Loja costing approximately $85-$115 per month. For a more culturally immersive experience, stay with a local family which runs around $135 per month including food. In Machala accommodation is available within the school for $25-$30 per month. Future plans for this school also include rented housing, so the costs will increase.
- Student age range: Work with a wide variety of learners including adults, teenagers or children from the age of four upwards.
